Mark R. Stephens, Esquire

Mr. Stephens graduated from the University of Washington Law School in 1996 and had tried several cases before his admission to the Washington Bar that same year. As a staff attorney with the Snohomish County Public Defender's office, he handled hundreds of criminal cases ranging from petty theft to murder.

While drafting criminal appeals, Mr. Stephens obtained reversals in many cases. Since opening his private practice in May 2001, Mr. Stephens has defended clients charged with domestic violence, drug charges, armed robbery and many other crimes. He is a member of the Washington State Bar Association and Snohomish County Bar Association.

Some of Mr. Stephens's recent victories include:

Client convicted of First Degree Rape, First Degree Burglary, and Intimidating a Witness, sentenced to 18 years in prison.

Mr. Stephens took the case over on appeal. All counts were reversed on appeal.

Client charged with 2 Felony Violations of a Domestic Violence Protection Order.

Client faced a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison and loss of contact with three school aged sons who lived with the alleged victim. After trial, the jury found the client guilty of a misdemeanor after Mr. Stephens established the alleged victim had coached one of her sons to lie about the incident. Client received only 10 days work release.

Wife and mother of two with no criminal record charged with felony assault of a police officer.

The officer suffered a broken wrist when he claimed client intentionally slammed a door on his arm. The jury found the client not guilty after Mr. Stephens destroyed the officer's credibility on cross-examination.
