Anthony was raised in a small town, Jacksonville , Illinois , just down the road from Abraham Lincoln's New Salem village. For forty years his mother taught and cared for handicapped children through her work at the Illinois School for the Blind. His father was a hardworking laborer, then a plumber, and then a successful industrial plumbing, heating and air conditioning contractor. During his teenage years, when he wasn't playing sports, Mr. Vieira worked alongside his father doing everything a plumbing, heating, and air conditioning man does—from running water and sewer main and tearing out heating and air conditioning systems to pouring and breaking out concrete. It was in this environment that Mr. Vieira developed a passion for vindicating the rights of injured people.

Mr. Vieira and his wife Amy, five-year old son Luke, and baby daughter Tania Angeline live in Southern California.
